This time my wonderful “vegan cooking journey” led me to Sweden. My lovely teacher was Leila – a young vegan, Swedish girl, who taught me how it tastes to be a vegan in her country.
And she couldn´t choose better recipes. We cooked Pytt i Panna, which is a traditional Swedish dish based on potatoes, beetroot, onions and other yummy things. Originally it contains meat and is topped with an egg. Of course our Pytt i Panna was cruelty free and much more delicious I believe! 🙂 But more about that recipe in one of my next articles.
Let´s switch to our Swedish dessert now because I feel very chocolaty today 😉 (my sweet tooth is screaming CHOCOLATE all the time) and so I decided to show you how to make the famous Swedish Chokladbollar first. They are nearly vegan already. All you have to do is to make vegan butter instead of butter which contains milk. That´s all!
The small chocolate balls are very delicious and so easy to make! Give it a try!
Vegan Chokladbollar
- 100 g vegan butter
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 400 g oatmeal
- 100 g sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or one package of vanilla sugar
- 3 tablespoons strong coffee (you could use rum as well for another flavor)
- coconut flakes
Mix all ingredients except the coconut flakes.
Form the paste into small balls and roll them in coconut flakes.
Put in the fridge for about half an hour at least. They are best if they´re very cold.
That´s it! 🙂 Enjoy!
Smaklig måltid!
